I will tell you what I would tell my own kids. Be yourself do not conform or change you to fit into any group of popularity. Eventually everyone will admire and want to hang around with you for your own special qualities and for who you are. If you start changing yourself now to fit into the popular groups or the best group it will become a long time habit. Be you be happy and be good.

If you really want to be popular, try to be friendly and nice to everyone so no one will think you are stuck up. And don't be fake. A word of advice: Popularity isn't everything, especially in high school. I think it's more important just to have good friends that care about you.
