I personally love what Ford used to be. I have owned allot of Fords trucks, cars and vans form the 60's to the 90's there 60's models were awesome, the 70's were great too, then after the mid 1980's they started turning into unreliable cars. I personally would never buy a Ford again. New or otherwise. My family still did in 2000 and now wishes they would have listen to me and bought a Honda or Toyota, I used to work in a junk yard so i know junk! ( NO the cars i owned were not from the junk yard) It's is sad i would much rather buy American but I can’t afford the repair bills and gas! Chevy seems to be on a similar path but not quite as bad,

I drive about 60 thousand miles a year, mostly hard driving, like in NYC and the surrounding area.
I had a Ford Escort and went 270000 miles with no real problems, I changed the oil every other Monday morning. Then I bought a Ford Focus, The biggest mistake on the road in my opinion. I put 134,000 miles on it and had to buy a new engine.
I was told the Escort had a Mazda engine, maybe thats it. I will keep with foreign cars now.

Ford was revealed by 60 minutes to repeatedly produce trucks that had a bad tendency to explode in rear and left side collisions as slow a speed as 35 mph it was The proved they new about this and rather than put a protective shield around the gas tank they ignored the problems because it was cheaper to pay the pain and suffering law suits than the protective part.
Also my husband and I bought a Grand Torino Sport in 1979. After a 3 year old boy drowned because had a faulty transmission the car he was in unexpectedly popped in reverse and rolled in to a lake.
Are car had done the same several times. Fords answer was to send us a warning sticker to slap on.
I own a Ford Van and keep these facts in mind.
I would rather have a company build safe products and back there products.
Hyundai has a 10 year warranty and when my sons car was totaled in an accident they came through.
Oh the Ford insurance did pay off my Escort when my husband died as agreed unlike other insurance companies Minnesota life on our house.

I've had good luck with Fords, Mercurys. 200,000+ on '86 Sable. Ford trucks top sellers for 20 years. The new 2008 Super Duty is sharp. Twin turbo on the 6.4 diesel.

If you take care of your car it should last you a long time, and maintenance should be seldom, but some people wait till the last minute to fix their car and sometimes if you wait to long it cause other problems.
I worked selling internal engine parts and many people prefer Chevy then Ford but it’s all in how you take care of your Vehicle.
If you buy Used, you may be getting someone else’s problems.
If you buy New then you know everything about your Vehicle.
Think of it as your Body! Take care of it!
I hope this helps. Good luck!

for many years i have disliked ALL Ford products, then in the mid 90's started volunteering at local rural rescue squad [vehicle maintenance] the super-duty ambulance chassis have made a believer out of me. we have purchased a 2007 F450 4X4 6.0 single turbo [due mid-March] because of previous Ford super-duty units. we have the highest of expectations..... with new models such as the 500, Fusion,Mustang, and Edge i really think i may shop ford for my next car [currently i own 3 rear wheel drive Volvo's, Saturn sl , S10 pickup, and a Triumph Spitfire. while most manufactures have at least one decent product line; because of the Saturn "experiance" i will never shop G.M. again. Ever.. .
