How To Shrink Clothes
For one reason or another you may want to know how you can shrink some clothes. At times some clothing has the ability to shrink itself over time or when it is first washed. This is especially true if you are a sewer. Bought fabric should always be washed prior to sewing a garment if you do not want the finished sewn garment to shrink. However if you want to shrink a garment and are also a sewer, then I suggest that you sew the garment first and then wash it. This will more than likely cause some shrinkage in the desired clothes that you wanted to learn how to shrink. However, not everyone sews these days, so read further and I will give you some details on how you can shrink some clothes.
When you want to learn how to shrink clothes, please make sure you have a washing machine on hand, however bear in mind that washing alone will not always shrink clothes. It is however the mechanical action combined with and high temperatures of the water that you choose to wash the clothes in. You will have to learn how to adjust the temperature to a very hot temperature on your washing machine cycle wash. Cold water will not shrink clothes at all.
It is also thought that excessive drying can also cause clothes to shrink. When you learn more about how to shrink clothes, you will also learnt that how you excessively dry the clothes that you want to shrink can become quite costly. If you opt to use a clothes dryer to shrink your clothes, you could in turn end up with an expensive electricity account. This I would imagine, you could very well do without. Perhaps you could leave the clothes you want to shrink out in the sun day after day.
You will also learn when you are looking into knowing how to shrink clothes, that a combination of both of the above can help you shrink your clothes at a more desired rate. Wash the clothes you want to learn how to shrink in a very hot temperature and leave outside to dry in the sun. Do this for a few ongoing days. You should eventually get the desired result of shrinkage that you are looking for.
However when it comes to shrinking jeans, it is a different scenario again. Unfortunately when you learn how to shrink jeans, you will also learn that the most effective way to shrink jeans, is to wash them in the very hot water in the washing machine and then placing them straight into a clothes dryer with the drying temperature set also at a very high heat.
There is no guaranteed method of learning how to shrink clothes. It is all a matter of trial and error. What will work for some people, may not necessarily work of another.
On learning some ways regarding how to shrink clothes, you may also want to try ironing the clothes you want to learn how to shrink using once again a very hot temperature setting while the clothes are still wet. Hot temperatures seem to be the key factor to knowing how to shrink clothes.
I have given you a few ideas on how you can try to shrink your clothes. You may not have great success the first time you try to shrink your clothes, but keep trying. You may have to go through the procedures a few times to successfully shrink the clothes to the size you want them to be at.
If you become successful at shrinking clothes, you may be able to assist someone else who is having difficulties in shrinking their own clothes.

If it's a shirt I spray it with half water half fabric softener. I then put it on the ironing board (like the ironing board is wearing it) and I use small push pins that don't leave marks or holes to hold the stretch that I am trying to accomplish. It doesn't work every time but it has worked quite a bit for me. Hope this helps.

Wash them in cold and hang them while they're wet. Also, after they're dry, tug on the sleeves/legs. Might not be a miracle, but it will help.
P.S. In the future (trust me, I always shrink stuff and I am tall), wash all of your shrinkable stuff in cold and hang them/lay them flat to dry. It is worth the extra minute of effort.

There's no way that always deshrinks them but if you get them wet and then stretch them out either by pulling or stretching them across something it could work.
