Although UCT is a really good university, I worry that American emplpyers dont believe that because of the perceptions about Africa. I have applied for about 150 jobs and have gotten no callbacks...Im getting worried. I graduated with first class honors and a distinction in finance, in the top 10% of my class, so I feel bumbed that I may not get a good job in Finance after all that hard work. Should I study another degree in the US or try to do an MBA in the US? :(

You are wrong in your perception. American empoloyers look into two main things: Qualification and experience; they want results. S.A. universities are well known and respected in USA as elsewhere. So, once you are in the USA you have good chance of getting employment. Be warned though, the compition is stiff, but the opportunities are equally endless.

If you don't have green card, then prepare to do the donkey job and get paid peanut (until you get your green card).

Good luck, be positive and march on!

All the best!/

First a question for you is are you physically present in the US.

If you are then perhaps your resume is not what it should be.

If you are not in the US the chances of an employer willing to sponsor you are very slim.

Americans tend to have this theory that everything american is bigger and better - they don't really know any better so try not to blame them for that. So they might now actually realise that UCT is in fact a really good university perhaps you might need to get transcripts from UCT.

Alot of people in finance have done MBA's, you could go down that route too but you need to remember that studying for that is around $350 a credit and I am not sure how many credits you need.

Good luck.

no longer certain in case your degree will be regarded over right here. attempt to placed it to apply on your native land for the better of each of the people there. Sounds as in case you've been between the fortunate ones that had nutrition, look after and bigger yet, education.
