I hate to reformat my main HD with all by valuable programs in it, not to mention getting hold of all those registration keys. Could someone suggest how to restore my PC to perform faster? I have tried disk cleaner, refrag, removing unwated files, added extra ram, registry cleanup.

You've done all the correct things, but I suspect that your pc has slowly gotten bogged down with things like a messed up registry, and other glitches. I've found a terrific, (and free) program that you can run that helps things a great deal. It's called "Advanced Windows Care Personal", and is downloadable at the below link. Download it, install it, and run it. Just let it do it's 'thing' without stopping it from doing all the recommended fixes. Guaranteed your pc will have a new and faster operating speed. Hope this helps.
