I agree with Bob Loblaw on this one (PS - what was the deal with Lindsay Funke?). Actually, Atkins surprised many with his power output last season after initially projecting as a player in the Chad Tracy/Mark Teahen mold; that is, a solid corner infielder who hits for a decent average. Some even thought he was keeping third base in Denver warm for former "uber prospect" Ian Stewart (before the latter suffered through a less than awe-inspiring minor league showing in 2006).

Wright is younger and does more things well than Atkins. Atkins looks as though he'll enjoy a good career as well, but Wright is already a star who will only get better as he improves his fielding and learns to become more consistent at the dish.

Stupid question really - I don't want to call anyone stupid - but it's a stupid question. David Wright has all the makings of a superstar - the dude could put up 40 homers this year and I sure won't be surprised. Atkins plays in Colorado, but Wright is shelfed in among the best offensive players in baseball.

I think Wright because he isn't yet in his prime. 24 I think, while Atkins is like 27. So definitely Wright has more upside even if they are comparable right now. Look at it like this, where/who was Atkins when he was 24? Not a household name like Wright, that's for sure.

Wright.

Wright has better baserunning skills. He is younger. He has managed to out up solid numbers playing in what is a pitchers park. And between the two, his defensive skills seem to be better. Atkins is older, and has taken longer to mature. His number are bouyed by Coors field. Though I will admit he hits well on the road, just not for power. And his defensive skills still lag behind even though he has worked very hard to get better.

Not even close, David Wright is better hands down.

Wright is a slighly more rounded player but they are close I would take either of them at third base on my team.
