The Vatican in the mid-late 70s is a wonderful example. People don't realize that it's the smallest independent country in the world (officially called "The Holy See"). It's also a pure absolute monarchy. The Pope is its head and no one can challenge him because of a doctrine called "Papal Infallibility".
In the late 70s, when Pope Paul VI started facing declining health, a small group of his "trusted aides" started a power trip that led to infiltration of the Vatican bank by dishonest (read: Mafia) "Investors", corruption to the highest levels of the Curia, millions of dollars missing from the Vatican Bank and ultimately murders to cover it up.
Many still believe that the death of John Paul I (Paul VI's successor) came about because he was honest and was clamping down on the corruption and was going to upset the ring of power. The conspiracy addicts believe the Pope was poisoned in order to get a successor put in place who would be more sympathetic. Little did they realize that the College of Cardinals met 15 days later to elect a very honest Polish pope who was out of the inner circle completely and who exposed the embezzlement, murders and corruption himself.

There are a lot of examples throughout history of such occurances but the latest is the case Saddam Hussein.
He was a despot with visions of a great Arab empire containing the gulf countries, Palestine, and part of Iran. He drove Iraq to poverty with many wars when in fact Iraq has the worlds second larges oil reserves.

In Zimbabwe (currently) the president Robert Mugabe has been president for too long. This power has corrupted his judgement and he has started attacking his own people. It is a perfect example of too much power causing bad outcomes as many Zimbabweans have had to flee.

Adolph Hitler, WW II. He tried to micromanage everything, rather than let his generals run the war.
I believe, had he not invaded Russia and left England alone, Germany would have won WWII in Europe.

well my friend..History happens everyday, not only what has happened in the past, today i Had a bad thought about somebody and that disrupted my good judgement, corrupted my feelings towards them and the power of my judgment lyed to me, because today i talked to him and everything i thought disappered, it was false. the only thing i needed to do is talk to her, listen and comprehend...All the things you said above is because people were to lazy to be persons instead they were being humans.
