I sold boats for two years. You will not find a well known ski boat, i.e., ski nautic, master craft, new or in good condition for your price range.

Look at the Monterey with the small V-8 engine. The 6 cylinders in any boat will not last long for rentals and do not pull beginners out of the water. The Monterey is a better built boat than the Bayliner in same price range. The Bayliner will, basically, start falling apart after one summer, I sold both.

If you don't want to worry about prop damage you can get some really good SeaDoos or Yamaha 21' (Jet boats) in the price range. Remember, though, without a prop in the water good skiiers will cause the boat to fish tail as they run back and forth behind the boat. Also, you will have to instruct renters to stay out of shallow waters because the jets will "suck in" mud and debri.
