If so what was it for?

Not so recently, about a year ago, I had to call 911 b/c my 2 yo daughter had a febrile seizure. Scariest thing I've ever seen in my life! She was in the habit of waking & wanting to come sleep with me, one night she got out of bed & I heard her in the hall outside my bedroom door. She said, "Mommy?" Then I heard - boom - she fell down & started shaking all over, making gurgling noises & her eyes rolled back. I think the whole seizure lasted about 3 minutes, but it seemed like forever. My husband was a pediatric corpsman in the navy & knew what to do. He felt her & said, "She's burning up with fever! Call 911 - she's having a seizure!" He got a wet towel to wrap her & I held her while she had the seizure. The police & ambulance came & took us to the local Children's Hospital. She's fine now, thank goodness, and apparently this is quite common for small children when they run a high fever. They usually grow out of it, and I'm happy to say she hasn't had a seizure since.

Ambulance to go to the hospital. A ride in an Ambulance to the hospital from home costs $665.00. A ride in a Van with a bed(also called ambulances but not with all the medical paraphernalia) costs $129.00 or $100.00 plus so much per mile.
Thank- God for Medical Insurance. But I had to pay a hundred bucks deductible each ride.

I called 911 for an ambulance a few weeks ago. An old lady had fallen on the sidewalk across from my condo. She was bleeding from a head wound. The 911 operator and the ambulance guy actually drilled me as to if it were a life threatening situation and actually warranted a 911 call. I told them she was 83 years old and that in itself was life threatening.

No, I haven't, but someone called the fire department on us Wednesday. We were burning leaves. Two firemen came out and they just ask us if we had a burning permit and the water hose out. They told us as long as in was in a barrel (which it was) and we had the permit and our hose out, we were fine.

911. An old lady was pushing a baby carriage down the 4 lane with a dog in it. I thought she had escaped from a nursing home or something.

Actually the last time I called was about a week and a half ago because my neighbor had an overdose of cocaine.

No, it would take too long for them to respond anyway.
I'm in Sydney and most emergency calls get redirected interstate.
Great huh!!!
