Biology question--If somebody had an elbow cast, why wouln't they be able to bend at the elbow after the cast was removed?

Possible atrophy of the muscles and ligaments. They will have to go through therapy to get those muscles strong and loose again.

Inflammation, fear, pain. I watched my son turn stark grey/white the first time he moved it, after the cast was removed. He nearly passed out cold.

Becuase the ligaments and tendons tighten and basicall freeze into that position....its only temporary, but lite streching helps.

nerves that control the arm may be damaged

ie, motor neuron or an interneron
