I'm curious to know what movies would have been better with a different ending.

The first one that comes to mind for me is The Black Dahlia. It was a good movie through the first 3/4 or so, but the last 20 minutes was horrible. The basically tried creating all these twists that weren't fair because they involved characters we hadn't met before and it would up being the totally bloated and convoluted plot.

The films I've seen that need a new ending are any of the ones that I remember being completely flat, excessively dramatic, and strained. Independence Day, Jurassic Park, the latest King Kong remake, and frankly, any movie that ends with the main characters staring off into the distance while hugging each other. To me that is the laziest way to end a movie.

I know many will disagree - but in my opinion, most (I say - most) Stephen King movies have very disappointing endings. Some of his early works were great - however I have noticed many years now that while he has great build up - his endings just fall with a dull thud.

I think the movie Se7en. The ending was not as detailed as the rest of the movie it kind of left off without a real closing.

Okay, "Message in a Bottle" was a sappy chick-flick, but the ending just totally blows. I think they took their cue from those depressing foreign films where everyone either dies or ends up alone, or both.

I would say The Departed and I won't say why in case you or someone else hasn't seen it......I LOVE the movie but would prefer a.....happier....ending.....although if it wasn't for the part with M. Wahlberg the ending would have totally blown......

I completely disagree with the Departed answer. That ending was great.

A bad ending: A History of Violence.

I didn't like the ending of The Departed. It was really good until they offed one of the main characters.
