what is the linux disc ppl use to hack your session whe you lost the password?

i saw somewhere that you download something from linux (a live CD) and then you use some commands..or something like that.

if could get a walk trough it'd be great

Lost my password and for a security reason i always put incoherent things in the hint so i don't remember it.

NTPasswd works better because it walks you right through it instead of having to type the command to change it.
