I had a phone interview a couple of days ago. Today, i recieved an email from the HR manager saying that she's still working on timing for the second interview (in person) but i should go ahead and fill out the attached job application and mail it back to her.

My question is:
The application asks for salary requirements. Ive read posts where people say that "negotiable" is fine and others say that a number should be put. I really want this job and I dont want to put down something too high or too low .

would negotiable be ok?

thanks!!

You should say something like "depends upon total benefits package". The reason is that you have to think of what a good 401k and good insurance package is worth against a slightly higher salary.

At this point of the game, being negotiable is the only way to go. Until they are serious and you know it is down to you and the other candidates, play that card later. Perhaps they'll suggest first, that way you don't sell yourself too short, or go too high. Feel it out.

particular you will have to place your income standards in the canopy letter. I propose you positioned it in the final paragraph and be certain you supply amplifying suggestion to assist your income requirement. as an occasion, in case you record $35K-$40K then stick to that up with 2 or 3 helping sentences. incorporate in those sentences as lots appropriate suggestion as possible. this suggestion can be meditated in the linked resume. And it incredibly is no longer mandatory to place income standards on your resume. Your resume could spotlight your skills, information, paintings adventure, and practise. some employers will use the income questions as a skill of screening out potential applicants whilst requesting a resume. in spite of the undeniable fact that, positioned the income information on the canopy letter. it is likewise a good theory to supply the organisation a style then state "income is negotiable".

no a high slary is recomended so that the company would acess ur capabilities and thier balance sheet and put a perk for u now negotiable would show u a weak hearted person which will leave a black mark of u to the company.

ALWAYS put "negotiable." If you put a number down the company may have been thinking of a highter # then that and you'll get paid less than what they were originally going to offer.

put actual # .. 15% above what you actually want... then they will knock off 10%..giving you 5 % more than what you wanted in the first place.
