I have not had any serious problems with my VW Beetle until tonight. I was at a red light and when it went green and I put my foot on the gas, it started to sputter and it felt like it was losing power and about to die. I accelerated and it sputtered a few more times, again feeling like I was about to lose power. I turned into a parking lot, turned it off and waited 10 minutes. I started my car and it sputtered while driving again a few times and lost power and then started acting fine. Any reason this would be happening? What's wrong?

Old Beetle or new?

It sounds like it could be a distributor or coil problem. If it's really old it could be a fuel pump. More details about the car needed.

that's common in case you replenish interior the morning or it you replenish in simple terms after the gasoline truck fills the tank or if there tank is working low i as quickly as pulled a million a million/2 galons of water out of one you will ought to have your pump checked because it could have died verify your gasoline for water it could de examined on the gasoline rail drain some upload a drop of water see if it sinks or mixes addind a gasoline dryer in simple terms works if there's a small volume say a million/8 cup of water if there is water run the pump untill the gasoline seems solid because it is going to take the water off the backside of the tank

Take it to a dealer. It may be a bad fuel filter. That has been known to happen in VWs.

I would recommend take it soon before your car dies in moving traffic.
