This is a physics experiment of projectile motion. But I don't understand how does it works.
aim: To lob an unboiled egg from desktop height into a plastic cup on the floor.

Method: You are to tie up the egg with cotton to create a pendulum swinging over the surface of the table. The cotton strikeds a razor blade cutting the egg free. This then lobs over the edge into the cup!

That's many things I don't understand, how could cotton tied up on the egg? anyway I don't understand the whole thing...

The teacher is wanting you to be able to observe projectile motion. You get a long thread, and loop it in such a way that it holds the egg - make a sort of net somehow. It would be difficult to do this it seems. Then you have some sort of stand that would hold the other end of the thread, so that it could swing in a pendulum fashion. Then have some other stand that would hold the razor blade. You release the egg from somewhere higher up on its arc, and when the string hits the razor blade, the egg starts to fall in an arc. You place the cup so that it catches it.

I assume that the instructor would have you to cut the string at various points along the pendulum arc, to see the resulting trajectory. So maybe this would require several eggs?

It seems to me to be a difficult experiment to set up without breaking the egg.

Me either I dont't understand this one and it sounds messy if the egg misses lol
