I got a message to update Windows Explorer, so I did and now everytime I send an email or close a window, my computer tells me it needs to shut down. Quite a few people I have talked to who also have Window Explorer 7 have no trouble. Can anyone tell me what happened and how to fix it? I tried to do a system restore and that didn't help.

You need to get rid of IE7. IE7 is designed to work with Vista. Not XP or 2000. Keep using IE6.
Once you remove IE7, you'll be OK.
Control panel---Add/Remove Programs---Click the option "To show updates"----then click IE7 and remove.

Sounds like a virus or a bad registry entry. Boot in safe mode and do a scan. If that don't work run a registry cleaner. If all else fails back up all your important stuff, format your computer and reinstall windows. To prevent all this mess in the furure install linux instead of windows.

You are not alone. Uninstall IE7, start/run/type in appwiz.cpl / find IE7 and uninstall it. Then reinstall from Microsoft's DOWNLOAD PAGE http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx not from the update page.

Be sure to save the download file to a location that you will be able to find it, your desktop or download file.

IE7 will work with XP as well as Vista. System Restore won't help you with this problem.
