I am planning to make a poster for a scholarship. I was wondering if I could use some photos I've seen on the internet. Now, I don't plan on stealing someone's piece and use it as my own. I simply want to integrate some photos into my theme of the poster. How can I do it without being sued or accused of theft. I've tried to get in contact with some photographers, but I haven't received any feedback. Any suggestions?

Usually, the owners don't care as long as you are not using the photos for commercial purposes. To be sure, contact the webmaster. There is usually a link at the bottom of the page, or go to a free clip art or photo site like Webshots (www.webshots.com). Just make you give the owners credit when asked.

As long as you give them the credit for their photos you should be ok unless their site says "not for public use."
