Maryland is in great shape. They are ranked in the AP Poll and should see a tremendous rise up the polls as a result of their recent upswing.

They are a lock for the NCAA tournament and are probably looking at about a #4 seed if things were to remain about as they stand now. A truly remarkable job by Gary Williams et al this season.

Respect doesn't necessarily come from beating teams in your own conference. There are a whole bunch of middle of the road teams in each conference who can cite wins that big and scream for respect.

Respect comes when no one scratches your team off of the brackets in two weeks. Maryland right now is a solid six seed who is a serious threat to make the Sweet 16 or even Elite eight. On the other hand, they could also be part of a group of team's two Saturdays from now wondering "what happened" in round one.

No respect?! Have you heard the sports reporters LATELY?

I understand their no respect a few weeks ago, but now they are being hailed to go to the Elite Eight! And I believe it!

Of course, beating Duke twice doesn't seem like much anymore, eh? =P

It's probably b/c they're one of of those teams that generally only folks around that area make up the fan base
It's sort of like the New England Patriots and Chicago Bears
Plus Duke is awesome

Because they do not have the marquee players like UNC and Duke does. Especially with "small" Dick Vitale drooling over Duke men's basketball team all the time. Go Terps!!!

The respect level is growing because of those wins. Gary Williams is lauded for bringing the team together, after a rough patch. Still, they are only so good. This is a good team, but not world-beaters.

Not a Maryland fan, but I consider them as the most underrated team in the NCAA this year.
