I will be playing on varsity high school football next year as a freshman. Right now, I am 6'2" 208 lbs. and 14 years old. I can run a 4.6 second 40 yard dash, can bench 220, squat 315. I am VERY fast, however not very quick and I do not have great acceleration. I have average hands and not a great arm (accuracy or power), I can block very well, I have a great vertical leap of 31". On defense, I make hard hits and am good at tackling, but I am not that great in coverage. I can stuff the run like no other, but I would also prefer to play offense and defense.

What position should I play on offense and/or defense? I have only played middle school football for one year, and I basically played everywhere on the field at one point or another?

Initially after hearing of your physical size I would have said Defensive End on defense and Tight End on Offense. However, you later stated the one key to both of those positions is one of your weakneses, that being acceleration and quickness. Thus I am left with speed and great physical size for your age. Assuming that you will get 2 inches taller and most likely add 15-20 lbs per inch during later teen years, I would begin learning the following positions if your goal is to be a letterman in High School or to pusue football in college.
Defense: Defensive Lineman on the left side. Normally the quickest lineman will be on the right , playing against the left tackle. This is because the best offensive lineman are usually trained to protect the blind side of the QB. This assumes a right handed QB in most instances. Being on the left side your speed will allow you to plow forward or run to the left (usually the direction a right handed QB rolls out. In this scenario you will not be challenged on your quickness to get around the corner as you would from the right side.
Offense: Center... this position is critical to the team (handles ball on every play) normally most offenses don't pull center, only guards and tackles. This will allow you to drive your opponent forward on running plays and you won't be surprised by the quickness of the corner linemen. One bonus to this position, It is usually not the first or second choices of players desired positions, this creates the opportunity to start earlier than perhaps at another position.

I would say linebacker, but you say that your coverage is not that good and linebackers have to cover sometimes. So i would go with a defensive end. You wont be the heaviest one but your speed would give you a great advantage in pass rushing and your tackling will help you stop the run. If you play offense i would put you at tight end. This would ideally fit your combination of speed and blocking skills. Your speed with your vertical leap along with some possible catching improvements would make you a great pass catching tight end, and you would be able to run block when you need to.

6'2", 208 lbs.? I'm your age and I'm only 6'.5" and weigh 180 lbs. On offense you would be a speed/power HB. Sort of like LJ or SJax. Fast, but a true north south runner. On defense you would make a great hard hitting S or even a LB, possibly DE. You are too fast to be on the O-Line, but have just enough speed to play a skill position. If you could work on your hands you could be a freak of nature at TE.

Middle linebacker...

You seem to be PERFECT for that position... you have excellent figures for a 14 year old. You're fast, tho not quick. If you're very quick but not that fast, you could've played a Defensive End, or if you were both fast AND quick, a cornerback. A middle linebacker requires all the qualities you have. You have to be prepared to get back when required, and make HARD tackles if need arises.

And on Offense, you can play Tight End, cuz you have the body for one and you can block when required, and you can get open with your speed. You're a very big asset for the team if you can take advantage of your athleticism.

on offense, i think you would make a good tight end. You would create lots of mismatches with your speed, size, and vertical leap. Don't think that just because you're a high school tight end that you won't get catches. I should know that, I played tight end on varsity football for four years. I'd advise you to try out for receiver first though, because it sounds like you'd be a good receiver as well, because a 4.6 40 yard dash for a kid who's not even in high school yet is RIDICULOUS.

on defense... you sound to me like you're either a linebacker or a safety. which ever one you prefer, i'm sure you'd be good at it.

I think the best positon for you on defense would be a Defensive Tackle because you already have size and are only going to get bigger. This would fit you well because most DT are big and dont have the greatest acceleration and you wouldnt be put into coverage much. On offense with your size your best bet would be an offensive lineman since you are good at blocking.

I have to agree with the guy who said you would be a good DE & TE. You have amazing height for a 14 year old. You may grow 3 to 4 more inches, and you definately will get faster and stronger. Don't let the jerks here discourage you, make sure you do well in school, and continue to develop your weaknesses, you will do fine.

on offense i would try you at FB, TE, and maybe RB or WB (if it is in your teams playbook.)

defense- MLB, DE

make sure you stay in the weight room starting now (preferably a few months ago) and ending when the season starts. you could gain 15-30 lbs. easy. make sure you still do agility drills also, so you dont slow down
