Is there any way I can trace and located a missing document saved on my pc? The whole folder which was saved on a Desktop destination is missing as a result of some sort of operations i did on the pc (right clicking and putting password access etc on the folder)-certainly doc is not deleted, but cant find where it's hidden. Have used the search function but no go.I am just a beginner in PC systems, can somebody help? Thank you.

ahh its a bit big process but u didn't give me full information
Its ok but one suggestion is download a software called Recover my files version 3.9.8 and check for the serial number on the website
and then u can recover the file if its deleted easily . I am suggesting this becoz i used it for recovering three of my movies.

has gone to the other side (another user side - you chose perhaps a new identity messing around) so type in that user name and password that you messed around with when you restart your computer. (not the one you normally use) that is if you remember .

If not you can search your drive and this folder if remember the name should come up regardless of the identity you've chosen.

And if a files ever missing you can look on the properties and you may have checked this as hidden and can uncheck this box

You can run a Linux Live CD to find the document

(a different - temporary - operating system which will allow you to objectively look at all your files)

A popular one is Knoppix: www.knoppix.org
