The boards name is taken from "yes" in two languages. Therefore, you start with the French pronunciation of Oui (wee), meaning yes, and the German pronunciation of Ja, (Jah) meaning yes. Ouija.
I'm going to make a copy of this so I can just paste it. I researched the thing and even talked with one of the folks that was there when it was named. I did it as a Highschool project in 1954. They didn't want a scary mystical product name.

I looked at the other answers after I put in mine. If they are correct, then the pronunciation has changed since I heard this discussed in the 1940s and 1950s in Canada. It was always fully pronounced then. But language changes, with period and place. What do I know? Maybe wee-jee (like skwee-jee, which used to be what we called a type of mop or window cleaner) is now the proper pronunciation. After all, we didn't use to spell words the way u folks do either.

It's pronounced Wee-Jee. I think it means yes yes, but I can't remember. From french Oui-yes German Ja-yes. I think.

Can be pronounced weegee or weeja..dont mess with one, they are not the playtoys they are sold as...can be very upsetting to you life.

it looks completely different than what it sounds but its weejee. and those things are freaky...or so ive heard i always wanted to try but never got the chance too, my sister ordered one but it never came and she said that it was for the better cuz its freaky...lol n-e-ways its weejee.....good luck
