I haven't had my period ever since at least September of last year. My mom said that its only because I'm overweight and that its normal to have irregular periods when you're overweight...is that true? Because she's been overweight for a while and she hasn't had no problems. And I haven't had any sex so I know that I'm not pregnant. Any ideas on what it could be? What kind of health problems could come from this? just kind of curious about all of this.

I looked at a website about what you mentioned Wings and I do have a handful of the symptoms of PCOS...I didn't even know anything like that existed. I'm going to talk to my parents about it and see if they will carry me to the dr about it soon. Thanks!

I have also been overweight most of my whole life ... and I skipped my period for about 6 - 9 months. The bottom line is IT IS NOT HEALTHY! Depending on other symptoms you may have (acne, excess body hair, abdominal pain, etc.) you may have a serious condition. By going to the doctor, I was diagnosed with something called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome which is a fairly serious condition involving the state of your body and hormones that can have lasting effects. Go to see your primary care physician, who may or may not refer you to an endocrinologist. But whatever it may or may not be, be sure to go and get it checked out!

Being overweight has nothing to do with this..
I was always told that stress can do this and also the changing of seasons, never knew that but my friend is a nurse and told me..
If it keeps up much longer, there is a pill you can get from the doctor to start your period, maybe you should give your dr. a call :)

A lot of children have irregular periods, it is hormonal and should straighten out at some point soon.
