Who here thinks that greenday isn't just punk posers, but a boyband posing as punk-posers? That's 2 levels of posering.

Their music doesn't bother me, the early albums are almost worth of praise, but they definitely try way too hard. They have the whole all black thing going on and try to act like super rebellious tough guys ever once in awhile, it gets old. And like I said, they're not terrible musically but they're definitely not Clash, Sex Pistols, Damned, Stooges, Rezillos, 999, Stiff Little Fingers, Ramones caliber. I could go on with that list forever, but if you know much about the original wave of punk rock you know where I'm going with that.

I have respect for Green Day. I don't really like where they've gone musically, but that doesn't make them poseurs. Who says their punk anyway? Stick with the underground, thats where punk is at. Don't bother with the mainstream stuff.

I don't think you can classify them as a boy band because they do play instruments (if a bit crappy). They are a bunch of poseurs though.
