It's our upbringing. We follow by example.
Watch your attitude around your children, they will pick it up, I guarantee it.

I used to be a very happy person despite hardships growing up. For a while I was depressed and quiet and withdrawn ... then happy, then life circumstances altered me, changed me into a very outspoken, aggresive agitated person... once I learned the power to speak up, 20 years of keeping quiet came out ... and that is why I am so grouchy!

Yes it is possible to be grouchy all the time for a number of reasons. First, lots of people have chemical imbalances in their brains which they may have inherited. For this reason, they are anxious, depressed, restless, etc. and this may come across to outsiders as nasty and negative.
Also, with many elderly people who have aches and pains and problems we cannnot even dream of, so it is quite difficult for them to be jolly all the time.
Also, as we age our facial features change and some people begin to look and speak as though they are mean and nasty. Most times, they are not aware that they are coming across this way.
Try not to be upset by the people you come across who seem "grouchy". I've learned that it is not usually this group of people who you have to be leary of.

I have no idea why people are so grouchy!
I mean sheesh! You think they could lighten up and just be happy all the time! Life is just so easy and carefree!
Weeeee!
(I crack myself up!)
*Reminds of that that girl from Talk Soup.
I'll have another 8 dollar triple mocha late with a cinnamon twist.

Because people are very stressed nowadays, some people are naturally "up", but most of us have worries and tend to see the glass half empty.

I don't know what makes those people tick. I assume they are bitter about life. Maybe they were miserable most of their life and you know what they say, misery loves company.
