They know what sells!! That would be DIRTY LAUNDRY......

As much as people deny it & act disinterested, the fact is plenty of people tune in & that's what Media is all about....RATINGS !!

Why else would the astronaut who drove to confront her rival have recieved such coverage ?? She was blessed by the timing of Anna Nicole's passing as it took her off the news "hook"

They are tired of reporting on the war and it has been a slow news week/month. That loony astronaut is thanking Anna Nicole because all the attention was taken off her (the loony astronaut) when Anna Nicole croaked. No one really gives a crap about Anna Nicole, but the media is bored with the war.

Exactly. It's a lot easier to pretend this trailer trash soap opera is important than to actually practice any real journalism. And the public eats it up.Nice to know what matters to America.Fox has practically become the Anna Nicole Network, and CNN's right behind.

I mean it just writes itself.Semi-celebrity skank's son overdoses.Half of the known world claims to be her baby's daddy.Skank overdoses, her sideshow family and creepy toady fight it out for her body,Three quarters of the known world now claim to be her baby's daddy, because there's a potential payday involved.

And then we have Britney.

There were a bunch of people killed by a tornado. A bus full of baseball players crashed killing some of the players. The media chose to air the Anna Nicole funeral. Let the poor woman rest in peace!

Right on. You should get 10 points just for asking this question.

Even more than war coverage, I finally got the coverage of the damage from the tornado in Alabama, but had to wade through all the Anna hoopla.

We're losing more civilians to bad weather and bus wrecks than we are in Iraq, but its good to see we have government officials swooping right to the scene when there's a weather disaster. Looks like they learned from Katrina.

There has to be some more important things going on in the world. If the most important thing is Anna Nicole, we have issues.

Isn't it pathetic? It's almost like they are trying to make us give a damn. I certainly don't. Look at everything that's going on in the world and they want to focus on the death of a self indulgent gold digging publicity hound. I'm so sick of American media. Do you think that it's even relevant anywhere else in the world? I mean people are dying in Iraq, and it's embarrassing what our media is trying to force down our throats every day.

You are essentially correct, in my opinion. The media is for the most part, left wing in its outlook, and out of touch with most Americans, but it has one consistent feature that is shared by small business and large corporations. It focuses on market share. Apparently enough polls suggest the lurid, the profane, the violent and the debasing are the most interesting to viewers.
While Jihadists are striking one at a time across America, declaring their violent goals based on their beliefs, the Media refuses to alert all but the most determined to follow such attacks on our country and culture. While the Congress is wasting time on a meaningless resloution in over the war in Iraq, our soldiers continue to need armor to protect them.
While the open gun battles our fought on the US border with Mexican Army regulars who are hired to protect drug runners, the reporters sniff at dead Hollywood starlets.

The entire Anna Nicole thing has been a circus and thanks to our wonderful media, we were all invited. I don't know what she did, I kind of look at her as a grown up Paris Hilton. I have gotten all of my closets cleaned out though so it wasn't for nothing!

She was a beautiful woman. She was a hyper-slut. She died bankrupt. The news likes to be tabloid in nature. Her little baby girl is potentially a great heiress, so everyone wants custody of Dannielynn. This is so tabloid.
