You can go to a number of sites but I would suggest www.Blackinventors.com to find out more about the man who put Thomas Edison's light bulb on the map. May I also suggest that you either visit Rutgers University or take a look at their website at http://edison.rutgers.edu/latimer/blueprnt.htm. Latimer's descendants donated his papers to the University's archive and not only can you find his inventions and associated documentation but you are able to get a very clear sense of the historical and social context/limitations in which he was able to do his experiments. Once you get an appreciation for that, you can't help but admire him as a man -- let alone a man of science. I hope this helps. Good luck!
