I want one word that covers both sides at the same time. (preferably neutral or less preferably pejorative)
Not a word for each side, like "wingnut" or "moonbat", but one word that comprises both wingnuts and moonbats at the same time.
The kind of people who not only
1) don't understand politics to the point where they believe that a one-dimensional spectrum is accurate and ideal to describe political inclinations.
but
2) see their illusory "side" as the unabridged truth and the other side as the quickest route to damnation and destruction

Dude, seriously, take an Engish class. One dimensional "spectrum" is a contradiction in terms. The word spectrum denotes multiple items, i.e., colors, ideas (in this case), etc., so to be a singular spectrum is equivalent to freezer burn. Your sentence structure using the word "comprises" is incorrect. If you use that same structure, "includes" could be used as a replacement, or the whole sentence could be rewritten as, " but one word that would describe a group comprised of both". "Comprised" directly modifies the word group, as opposed to your attempt to use it as a verb, which cannot be done ending the word with an "s", as the transitive verb form is formed without it. Technically, "comprises" is not a word and oft misused. Please, put the damn thesaurus down and pick up a grammar book. Straighten your style out before you wade into a misguided foray in politcal thought.
