I just found out I'm pregnant but I might be further along than I though. My stomach is swollen already but the rest of my body has not been growning bigger. I took a test 2 months ago and came out negative, so I might be pregnant since last month. My husband is a identical twin. Is this the reason why I might be getting big? I do have a appt. with the Doctor coming up but I just can't wait to find out!

CONGRATS!!!
As far as your husband being a twin, that wouldn't matter. According to my doctor, having twins would come from the mothers side and has nothing to do with the father. If you have a daughter, then she will have some of your husband's genes which would make it possible for her or her future family to have multiples.
In regards to your test... the first two times I took the pregancy test, it was negative or they couldn't tell since I drink lots of water. I felt something different with my body so we decided I was pregnant and started prenatal pills. The third test came out positive. In saying this, I ended up being pregnant with fraternal twins and a due date that confirmed that I conceived a day after coming off birth control pills (even though the tests couldn't confirm pregnancy). So yes, you might be farther along than you think. For me, I didn't seem to get bigger anywhere other than the stomach area, which is noticeable by 3 months. When I did go in to see the doctor, prior to knowing I was pregnant with twins, I asked if he could tell. He did tell me that my uterus was larger than normal and checked for heart beats. My ultrasound confirmed that there were two babies growing in my stomach.
I know you are excited, but keep an open mind when you go in. Whether you have one or two you will be blessed. Having more than one at a time can be overwhelming. If you do have two, make sure to take care of everything sooner than later. You might not have energy. Take care and wish you an easy delivery.

Just because your husband is a twin doesnt mean you are having twins yourself.. If you are getting bigger then it could just be that you are gaining to much weight to quickly.. I went from wearing a size 8-10 to wearing maternity clothes in the first month or so.. Twins run like crazy in my family "3 sets of twins and 2 sets of triplets on my dads side all concieved natural", and "7 sets of twins total on my moms side all conceived natural my grandpa being the last of them" no one has had them yet, but I am not saying it isnt going to happen.. Just be calm and wait for the doctors appoinment.. Best of Luck...

Your husband's side of the genetics have nothing to do with you having twins, unfortunatly. Fraternal twins are the only ones that run in families, and that's because some women are genetically predetermined to release more than one egg at a time, so your husband's sperm wouldn't affect that at all. Identical twins don't run in families but are instead luck of the draw, if your egg decides to aplit...again, isn't affect by husband's sperm. But that doesn't mean you CAN'T have twins, just that it wouldn't be due to your husband's genes. An enlarged abdomen early on is a sign of twins, so you might be in luck!

Identical twins are not genetic, so just because your husband is one, that doesn't make it any more likely that you will have your own set. And fraternal (non-identical) twins have to run in the mother's side of the family (your family, not his) to make any difference in your likelihood of carrying fraternal twins.

You could be further along than you thought, sometimes tests are falsely negative when taken a little too early, and some women don't produce enough of the pregnancy hormone to trigger a positive test result until later. Or it could be that you are just slightly bloated.

Good luck and congratulations!

It just depends. I am an only girl with 3 older brothers 2 of which being twins. None of us have had twins and we all have 2 children, except my one brother he doesnt have any. My 2 brothers are twins and my dad is a twin. Thats on my dads side. On my moms side, my aunts a twin and my grandpas a twin. So i hope that helps on how sporadic it can be. Dont be too scared I know the feeling though.

From what I have been told by other people twins tend to skip a generation, but I have seen where a twin has had twins. Twins run in my family and my boyfriends family but I'm pregnant and only having one. Its really a 50/50 chance. Only an ultrasound will tell. Good luck and congrats.

Some women get bigger than others. I have twins and my doctor told me that twins is not because to previous family history. It has nothing to do with the man any way. You produced two eggs.Ask your doctor. I did not get bigger until later anyway. Your body would not get big this fast. If your having twins then you would not notice the bigness until your 4th or 5th month. Hint: Babies this early are only the size of little peanuts. You eat more than that in one meal.

The rate of fraternal twins is regulated by the female and can run in families. It occurs when more than 1 egg is released and fertilized. To my knowledge, about 10% of any woman's cycles have more than 1 egg released during ovulation. Some women may release 2 eggs more often than others and this might be genetic.

I have heard that the rate of identical twins MAY be influenced by the man! Something about his sperm might influence the fertilized egg to split.

i actually think it skips a generation. so if one of your parents or your husbands parents were twins, then your child could be a twin.
there are always exceptions though, so i wouldn't rule it out. that would be exciting, wouldn't it!! haha

your stomach might be a little swollen because your only about a month pregnant, and the weight of the fetus is effecting your body. It could just be taht you feel heavier than you are because your noticing a change. or it could simply be because your growing two babies at once!! haha...

good luck with everything!
