Yeah they are worth fixing. I was looking into them here in california and one with no motor, no tranny, just a rolling body without windows and rusty for about 5500. So at least you know you can sell it if you wanted to.
They make a new LSx block or the LS7 you can put in it and have it pretty fast.

How bad is the rust?? Can it be sanded down without having the repalce a lot of metal?? As for a motor, you could go with putting it back to stock rather than going with a bigger motor (I would not go any bigger than a 350ci) and if you want to stay with an automatic tranny, get a 350 turbo transmition. a 10 bolt rear end isn't bad either (limited slip transmittion as opposed to the 12 bolt which is a 4-11 positive drive rear, both wheel gradd together when you hit the throttle). How's the interior? Yes, there are many things ot look into on it and whether or not you have the funds to fix it up would be your biggest question unless you don't mind working on it over time.
Lots of suggestions, but its up to you. If you can affor the work on it and enjoy the end result, then go for it, (it could be a lot of fun) otherwise, there are folks out there that would give you a good price for it. Good luck in your decision

If the frame isnt to bad you can repalce most every panel on that car. as for 10 bolt not as good as 12 bolt, or even a 9 inch. you can build a nice 350 on a budget and still make 500 horse no problem, throw a 4 speed under it and youll have one hell of a machine. or you could sell it to me for 500 bucks.

Taking on a resto job can be expensive to say the least. Have you thought about listing the car on eBay? These are bringing lots of $$. If you've got really deep pockets it could be a fun car, but not an easy task.

Hard to say. You need to get a quote for the bodywork, then price out the mechanicals you want (and any labour charges.) Then find out if you can afford it, and whether you can just buy one for less. Its almost always more expensive to restore a car - even if you do all the work yourself - even if the car starts out in reasonable condition - than to buy one that's already been done.
