RE:
Why is it that no one can spell? Seriously?
There is a spell check available but still people are spelling words incorrectly. Sometimes it is to the point that you can not even fathom what the questtion is suppose to be.

I don't think people are being taught spelling and grammar anymore, and if they are, they're told it isn't important. Heck, I know someone who works in a company and the employees (very much *adults*) don't even bother to use spell-check on their *official* documents. I'm starting to see it in the newspapers, on television, in ads, and everywhere. I don't know what is going on, but it drives me up the wall. I mention grammar too, because spell-check won't pick up they're/there/their or two/too/to, etc. I understand the occasional mistake - nobody's perfect. I don't get how one can pass through school and not grasp *any* of this. Thanks for being the catalyst to my rant. P.S. Not to be too picky, but you spelled "perfection" as "perfectection." (eta - sorry, I couldn't tell if it was intentional or not, but I did find it amusing in a way.) P.P.S. I don't mean people for whom English is a second language. Half the time, their grammar is far better than everyone else's.

I believe they are not even using spell check. Just in too big a hurry to reply. What does it say about our school systems that so many can not spell. I also wonder if English is the first language.

English is not an easy language to spell in. So many of the words are not phonetical and there are so many exception to the rules. Not to mention how advertising takes a word spins it, giving it a different spelling!

It is an American spelling check. Try the English word colour.

If it's just ONE word, then I usually just write it off as a typo, especially if the rest of the text is engaging and makes sense. On the other hand, if I spot multiple basic punctuation errors (eg, using "ill" instead of "I'll"), then I'm pretty quick to discredit that person in my mind, no matter what the content.

-nice.
Hahaha.
Well maybe people just don't care, or don't have the time to go back and make sure they spelled everything correctly.

Everyone makes mistakes. Even you. In your question you said suppose instead of supposed. Does it matter that much at the end of the day?
