Do you still feel that you and her can be best friends? Do you want to be best friends with her, truthfully inside? If she is your best friend, she really shouldn't betray you for someone that you hate. Does she know that you hate this person? Maybe she doesn't know that you think she betrayed you, because she's not sensitive and doesn't realize what she's doing sometimes. Just talk to her about it, and tell her that you feel kind of hurt because you feel that she betrayed you. See what she says. If you really don't like that person, you shouldn't have to put up with him/her.

Define betrayed.
I have had friends that didn't like each other. In fact I have two friends right now where I know the one can't stand the other. I never bothered to ask if it was mutual.
I have a sense of understanding of both people. I guess it depends on the individual situation. If it is just personality or the fact that some people have to have exclusive friendships, you just don't push these friends to socialize with each other. Let them be. I rarely bring all my friends together in one place. HMMM, actually I havn't done that for years. I know many of them wouldn't feel comfortable with each other. Maybe that isn't fair of me, you really can't tell.
If it was something really terrible this person did, you probably have a reason to be upset. You need to calm down and hear all sides of the story if you want tokeep this friend you liked. Maybe this person is just dreadful, I don't know. Maybe you have to let go.
Spread your wings and find more friends. They all don't have to be super close. Maybe you just go for coffee with one, another one might just be a friend at work, and so on.
It is a horrible thing, feeling betrayed by a friend, I have had that experience to. It can be rough. It's a lonely moment. It's better not to put all your eggs in one basket. That can take time but you can do it!
Frankly, if I didn't feel comfortable with being with the two of them I wouldn't. That dynamic can be unpredictable. I would just let it go, listen to my friend, share my feelings and if the friend can't respect that, get on with enjoying my life doing what makes me happy and leave them both behind.
Live and let live. Peace!

I'd have to tell the jack-as* that I know they had betrayed me, and I don't know if I'd like to hang out with them for a while, until I can figure out if they are a true friend or not. There are other friends in the picture, so hang out with them, and put this other person in the back of your mind for now. Figure this person out later-life's too short.

You have principles. There is a reason why you don't like certain people. There is no reason to be forced to accept them. Seems to me you need a NEW best friend or maybe a real friend.

I'd probably leave that person on her own, and go my own way. It's a lot better in the long run, really.
