I am hooked on picking up all that crap you get in the tourist information booths, next to the hotel registration counters, museums and airports. The books, the brochures, the coupons (you gotta have coupons!!!), the cheesier, tourist trappiest, the more unbelievable the better. It is unbelievable. The thing is, I'm usually so busy having fun I never get to read the damn things until I get home. Then they get stored in the big box called "TRAVEL" and clutter up the house, hey you never know when you could use those coupons and those maps. You can never have enough maps. As far as starting your information booth, that would be fantastic. How about taking some of the more outrageous ones and posting them on the internet? I think a lot of ppl would be interested in that.

Oh, yes! I like to pick up these information sources ... and at night, I go over what is there, and look for interesting things to visit while I am in that area.
It never fails ... I always find some out of the way place that is quirky but still interesting enough to allow me to take some very strange, unusual, and striking images.
Now that I have my GPS ... I may be a little less willing to obtain such things, I'll have to wait and see (since I just got that device, and I must admit .. it is VERY handy and allows me to continue to drive without having to pull over and figure out where I am at on a Paper map).

I usually find something as a keepsake, something with the name of the city I am in, I want to have a record of things like that for my kids to see how much fun life can be, my parents never really went anywhere and I love to travel so hopefully I will be able to show them that there dad wasn't just some old embarassing guy that they live with...

I get maps from AAA, so I have plenty of those for wherever I'm going. I try not to keep a lot of junk around though. I mostly find info on the net these days.

Maps yes no to everything else, I consider the travelling to be half the fun, the other half is the finding your way after you finally admit you are lost.
