OMG.....are you kidding, don't listen to anyone who tells you things to do to get tan via the sun. That is a bad idea no matter your skin type/color plus it ages you alot faster. I will just tell you what works for me. I have blonde hair, blue eyes so I have very fair skin. So fair that my husband calls me "pasty" in the winter. Here is what I do...of course, I use a moisturizer with sunblock all year round as well as under my make-up that already has sun-block in it.Even if you are going out with NO make-up, you still need that sun block protection. You can use regular sun block but I use a moisturizer b/c I tend to get dried out. For tanning, Victoria's Secret has a great line and I use Barely Bronze, which is great b/c it comes out like a mousse. If I am going to be going to a party or even an amusment park or beach...a couple of days before I do mystic tan( spray tan at a tanning salon). I only do it on "special" type occassions b/c it can get pricey when doing it often. Estee' Lauder has a great self tanner called "Go Bronze" that I was using before the VS one. I have not found a really great self tanner that local retail stores like Wal-Mart or K-Mart carry. I did try the Jergens one and it was okay but better as a moisturizer. ***Oh, here is a tip: if you put on a self tanner after you get out the shower, apply it to damp skin, it helps to keep from streaking as well as drying out you skin***

That's normal for most of us. You have less melatonin in your arms and legs. Best bet is to consider a spray-on tanning salon. They can cover your arms and legs only while your midsection stays naturally dark.
The spray-on tanning salons are very safe and it lasts as long as a tanning bed.

Babyoil works better and gets you more tan than any suntan lotions I have ever tried and it's alot cheaper. Also, try using a sunless tanning cream as a base to darken you just alittle bit along with actual tanning.

For increasing your melatonin levels, drink carrot juice before exposing your body to the sun. Two glasses will be good. Also try oils with solar protection around 10 or less. Hope this helps, if not, then ... try artificial tanning.

use a self-tanner?
or cover your midsection while you tan, so you'll be more even-colored.
