I had a similar problem with my generator. A small speck of rust had gotten into the carburetor and prevented the needle valve from closing. Inspect the fuel tank, lines, and all clamps to determine where the leak is coming from. If it is from the carburetor you will have to dismantle it. Clean any gelled gasoline from inside and ensure everything is spotless clean when it is reassembled.

Could be a leaking hose or cracked fuel tank. If the hose is old, it can become brittle and leak. Check the bottom of the fuel tank where the fuel outlet is for cracks.
There are products for putt ting on cracks to stop the leak.
