What's the purpose of the hole in front of the underwear?

For easy access to the genitals. I find that hole most useful for getting my penis out when I need to pee. I can bring it straight out of the hole instead of having to pull the waistband down. Having the waistband touching my penis while I pee tends to have my aim all over the place.

Quick access, not really, its actually to allow your underwear to stretch when you move certain ways, without stretching out the materials and damaging your underwear.
