you need to establish a bed time routine that way your body knows when to go to bed.it should be relaxing; a hot bath, read a book, yoga.dont eat any thing heavy before bed or drink caffine that will just keep you awake longer........hope you find a soultion to your sleeping problem.

Try a glass of warm milk and a banana right before you go to bed. I know it looks crazy, but the banana helps with the restless legs and the warm milk, or cold if you like, is just like Turkey on thanksgiving day.

Get a CD player and a CD of Glen Gould or some other good pianist playing Bach's Goldberg Variations. The music was created for insomniacs. Listen to it while you are lying in bed.

I used to have that same problem. It's a bugger. I finely learned a self hypnosis trick that worked for me. I turn out the lights, lay down, close my eyes and pretend I am walking down some steps into a dark, dark cellar. there is nothing in this cellar except sleep. but the stairway is very long so I have to keep walking down til I get there. I still use it occasionally.
