NO NO NO
Aussies rules has always reveolved around a bit of biffo and with all of the sanitizing over the years its fast turning into soccer (god forbid!!).
Physical contact is an essential part of the game and the public want to see players put the body on the line I think it comes out fo the that never give in do or die kind of Aussie spirit that became so famous at galipoli.
I do think getting rid of the punch ups was a good thing but it needs to keep the big bumps and tackles or it will lowse its identity and spectators.

Every year they introduce new rules that take out the physical aspect of the game- it's ridiculous. Who would want to be a defender these days? AFL is going to involve into a sport for super athletes who just have good stamina. Keep the hip and shoulder its part of the game.

A good hip and shoulder can turn a game. It has to be legal with no elbows but apart from that it should be allowed. It's a great way to put a danger player on the interchange bench for a while.

not quite i think you'll find they aren't taking the hip and shoulder out of the game, but they are tightening the rules to protect the player with his head over the ball, the hip and shoulder is still allowed but a player can't make any contact to the head.

just on other rule changes this year i think its becoming a joke and the AFL are slowly ruining our great game
