I believe that the meaning of life is different for everyone. If we all had the same purpose in life, and the same end game, just imagine how boring the world would be. In all we are looking for the same things out of life (most of us anyhow), to love, be loved, and live happily every after with our 2.5 kids, fancy job, and white picket fence. Yet it is all the differences in the world and the pple that make this world up, that make life exciting and what it is. Yeah there are those few unlucky ones that seem to always be at rock bottom, but then there are the ones with hearts bigger then the world to help care and nurture and fix things. Think about it... there are those who have absolutley nothing.. work for pennies a day, but are perfectly content with the way things are. They have love and happiness. For them they have meaning in their life. And then there are those who need more then just the necessities, but that is what they find to be meaningful for them.I honestly believe that the true meaning of Life... is to find meaning in your own life.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

I think that there is a different meaning to every persons life. I think that since we are all put on earth for a different reason, that each person's meaning of life is different and unique. If we all lived the exact same life, our lives would be boring and bland, and who really would want that? We each are put here to fulfil a different need in the world, I think that that means that the meaning of life is different for every person, and we will only figure out the mening of life for ourselves when we accept the fact that we are all different and that the meaning of life isn't as important as living your life now, here,on earth.

Wow! What a question!
What is the meaning of life?
The meaning of life is different for every person.
Some people think that it is about achieveing certain goals: Money, status, privileges, etc.
Others think that life is about relationships: setting up a family, having children, finding that one special someone...
Yet all of these things: money, status, privileges and setting up a family, having children etc though people have them, feel that something is missing!
Why? Because the meaning of life is something/someone beyond our life and our reality.
There are times I act and I feel as though I am achieiving my purpose.

As an 18 year old girl, I ask that question every day. I am afraid of what lies ahead of me, but am also excited to find out what it is. Not knowing your future is very scary. Hopefully I'll find out the meaning of life before I die because that's the only way my life can be fulfilled.

Well obviously the moron who answered first has no idea what he is talking about! If life had no meaning then we would be raping, killing, and stealing everything! The human mind has a sense of "right and wrong", so there has to be a higher supernatural being controling us, so the meaning must be to serve it.

It's unfortunate that Jay V Dub got a thumbs down because he is dead to rights. There is as much meaning in all human lives put together as there is in the life of one flea.

The condition that distinguishes organisms from inorganic objects and dead organisms, being manifested by growth through metabolism, reproduction, and the power of adaptation to environment through changes originating internally. Says the Dictionary.
There is life beyond this .......and its upon each person to find the meaning of their life.
