I really love this question considering i write alot of poetry. You have to write it about something you have experienced. That way you poor yourself into it and it has more details to explain it. Also don't worry if you can't think of anything at first. Carry a notepad and when you see things that captivate your attention write it down. That way you can remeber things and write more about them.

Nature ... but make it meaningful.
Try reading some of Mary Oliver's poems to see what I mean.

It should be something you feel... You cannot ask suggestions for an inspiration because you may not be able to fully utilize it.
Close your eyes and something will pop into your mind. Write about the first thing that you think about. It is the thing which you feel most strongly about.
Best of luck

Well, if your good at writing poems and it comes easy to you. Try to challenge yourself. Write a poem through someone elses eyes. Someone who is struggling in there lives. Like a bum on the street. Or a kid on the street even. Or you could try someone else in another country. Like someone struggling in Africa.
