I know as a guy, men can feel "feminine" or "girly" if they have to do the dishes in front of company. It can be a pretty uncomfortable and humiliating experience. Ladies, is there any chore that makes you feel "manly" like perhaps mowing the lawn? If so, did you like or hate that feeling?

Kicking your butt would be a good one to start with.

I'm extremely girly and high maintance!! So all my friends say. No, I really am all those things. But i get dirty and mow the lawn and don't mind all that, and weed eat, and get dirty in the yard, i love that stuff, but the one thing that makes me feel masculine, and i didn't know how to take THAT feeling, was driving the tractor!!!! We always put up Christmas lights, usually to the extreme, and we have a bucket on the tractor, and i have to lift my hubby up on the roof part that has the water pipes?!?!? Anyways, we have people come over and make a thing of it and i do the tractor cuz he dosen'[t trust alot of people with his life, that high up and in the bucket, and i feel really out of place. So I know how you men must feel now when you have to wash dishes when there is company over. Even if someone drives by our house and im on this tractor, i get soooo humiliated. Kinda weird huh!!!!

Sorry, but I've never looked at the tasks in every day life as "male" or "female". I was raised that everyone had to be able to take care of themselves, male or female, and we were all expected to learn basic tasks.

My brothers can sew, cook and do laundry. My sister and I can change a tire, mow the lawn, and do basic plumbing. We weren't allowed to drive the car until we could demonstrate that we could change a flat, check the oil, and do some basic maintenance (fix a leaky hose, and so on).

I find it silly that anyone would feel uncomfortable or humiliated by being able to fend for themselves, publicly or privately.

There are plenty of them I've had to do. Yes, mowing the lawn, building a mantle over the fireplace, changing the brakes or the oil in my car, remodeling my kitchen. All of those things are "man's work" but I love doing them. I feel more empowered and independent knowing that I can do these things on my own. (well for the most part. (Cabinetry installation is never a one woman or one man job, but you get the point)

Mowing the lawn...w/ a push mower. Laying a hard wood floor...I learned to use a lot of power tools, mostly different kinds of saws, and the one I hate the most : Packing in the coal buckets in winter for the fire....Come On Spring!!!!

Wasn't so much a chore as a situation...I got very ill with the stomach flu and all I did for two days was lay in bed and moan and whine and wait to be served tea and toast. It felt very "manly" and if I hadn't been so miserably sick, I am sure I would have enjoyed it!

I dont want to be male or take any man role away from him but helping at home is different than stealing their jobs

Yes. I hate cutting grass and using the weed eater. I now pay someone to do it.
