if they would merge, I think they would have a monopoly

The main reason I picked Sirius over XM was because Sirius was the broadcaster for NFL games, and at the time the pre-season was just beginning.

If they could merge, I would not only have the football games, but I would get the baseball games XM currently broadcasts. So I think that would be the best of both worlds.

I am a little worried... I am an XM subscriber. I recently received an email from XM before the merger was formally announced. The merger is happening because of competition with Ipods and HD radio. There isn't enough market demand out there for all of these choices...especially in a less than stellar economy.

I don't think it will go through. There are too many roadblocks. Frankly, buying stock in either one is a mistake. If you own any I would dump it. The FCC point is a big one and they will have an uphill battle. Even if the merger does eventually happen your money would still do better in a ton of other stocks. Don't get over attached to any stock it is a sure fire way to loose money.

I think it's great. I listen to Howard Stern and when he was off I would listen to C-span radio which is no longer on Sirius. I was contemplating switching to XM because while I like Howard I love C-span radio which is only on XM. To have both again would be great.
