Restaurants in the USA main nationalities are Scottish, Irish , Italian and German.

Diners of the 50's are the popular places for to get eggs, beef burgers and steaks.

I would pick a best restaurant based on a place I could get a steak, beer, seafood and great variety of salad bar and/or all you can eat - at any scale not only those reported to be "upscale".

I'd choose Kansas the center of America:

J.Gilbert's Wood-Fired Steaks

But I would have base this decision on selection and availability all year round of fruits so I'd say New Orleans at

For great road food all you can eat a long standing chain that doesn't seem like chain and always fresh and has the best service, lowest prices: Shoney's and Ryan's Family Steakhouse.

Sizzler, Arroyo Grande California.
Near Pismo Beach.
The best franchise in the chain.
They are the only location in the world to have written permission to use homemade recipes from the president of the corporation instead of the prepared stuff from the company.
They also received the "Best Salad Bar Award" in the chain at the last convention.
The service is awesome too.

I guess it depends on the type of food, but the Rainforest Cafe has nice scenery and lots of different food choices that are fun. Plus it's a great place for all if you like animals. Animation is cool.
