I've never heard of a warm bath speeding up labor. But a warm bath can relax you, and allow labor to progress more easily.

This all depends on how hot you get the water. Why do you think that pregnant women are prohibited from using hot tubs? Raising the body's core temperature is not healthy (remember that 100 degrees is a fever). Hot water will not speed up labor, but a warm bath may help you relax your muscles. Let birth happen naturally, your body will do it for you!

Well, while you arent supposed to take hot baths, warm baths are perfectly okay... As for speeding up labor... thats a negative... Im 39 weeks 2 days and I take a warm bath almost every night... hasnt helped me!!! Also, you shouldnt use anything like bubble bath because yeast infections are easier to get during pregnancy... However, as for helping along labor, my midwife said that intercourse does promote contractions because of the prostoglandins in sperm, and if you orgasm, it produces ocytocin which helps as well... Also, she told me to take two 1000mg primrose oil pills per day and insert one into the vagina at bedtime to help soften and prepare the cervix... Hope this helps! Good luck!

I think the warm bath is meant to relax you, which in turn can help your labor progress. I would try to keep the water around 98-100 degrees.

You can use oils of Clary Sage, Clove, Jasmine and Neroli in a natural vegetable carrier oil in your bath.

Clary Sage oil strengthens the respiratory and muscular systems during labor while facilitating regular, effective contractions to speed up the process. This essential oil also relieves pain and tension.

Neroli oil brightens the spirit and brings clarity to the mind. This essential oil improves circulation throughout the body and reduces fear and anxiety.

Jasmine Oil dulls uterine pain, strengthens contractions during labor and promotes healthy production of breast-milk.

Clove essential oil stimulates contractions, facilitating the birth process. This oil is useful for its antiseptic properties and will also prevent nausea and vomiting sometimes experienced during labor.

Happy laboring!!!

it won't work so you might as well not try. nothing is going to speed up your labor. everything you hear about are just old wives tales or coincidences. the baby will come when it's ready.

No baths. Bacteria can enter your uterus causing damage. Go for a walk, eat chinese food, have sex. You'll be done in no time.
