My mother in law in japanese. Which makes my husband half Japanese. They are taught to be diciplined at a very young age and they are encouraged to be perfectionists. Also, my husband says being honorable is a must when growing up in a Japanese family. And yes....the food is awsome.

Which Japanese culture? The ancient one, the new one, .......The culture is in transition- You must mean certain parts of the culture are attractive to you. You sound like a young person...... It is good to find out about different cultures; it helps you understand human nature as well as how history shaped cultures.

Study history. The Japanese culture started 4000 years ago. Our country began just over 200 years. We could be seen as a bunch of bratty teenagers. Japan has been very insular and only concentrated on their own culture whereas America is a country based on immigrants. We know embrace each others cultures to benefit each other. Who what of thought of buying Honda's and Sony Walkmans 60 years after we hated and killed each other?

Cool? I guess it all depends on your view of the world. I see Japan as a place with too many people crowded in too small of a space. What's so cool about that? Little people, little cars, and crowds.
You think there is are racists in America? Believe me, the Japanese are some of the most racists bastards in the world. Things are not always what they appear to be.
One thing I'll give them though is their toughness. They survived not one but 2 flyovers that nuked their behinds and came out better for it in the end.
When the towel-heads finally get their act together and light off a nuke here in the U.S. 1/2 of America will simply pass out and die from fright, 1/4 will take the French approach and surrender or sue, and the few surviving remaining true patriots will left to try an save your sorry behinds weather you like it or not.
I guess in some respects, the Japanese must be admired and respected. Their sense of nationality, will to survive, and tenacity gives them the right to survive and flourish.

It's not. It's just different. For a while American culture was cool in Japan. All you crazy teens with your anime and your kawaii ******* will get over this fad and realize that they're just a different culture. And America is more technologically advanced than Japan.

The Japanese are much more disciplined starting at childhood. They grow up studying and learning instead of getting drunk, trying to get laid, hitting McDonald's and watching the big game on tv. They have more important things to do than go hunting, playing lotto, hitting bars and watching wrestling and nascar and dreaming of calendar girls. The Japanese strive for improvement and there is shame when it is not acheived. It's a different work ethic there.
