They are getting all the respect, the reason you don't hear much about them is because there is nothing interesting. They are winning consistently so much that people get sick of hearing about it. People like listening to the woes of the Lakers or the inconsistency of the Cavaliers. As for MVP, Dirk should win. Nash has Stoudemire and Marion. Dirk has some players that are making big names BECAUSE of Dirk.
To think Nash and Dirk used to be on the same team...

The Mav's are getting enough respect. Everybody knows how many games they won (still dont know what records they are breaking that you are talking about) and it's possible that Dirk will win the MVP. I personally like Kobe for the MVP this year. I mean most people probably couldnt even name another person on the Lakers this year, but he has still made them one of the top teams in the West, he has matured this year instead of just putting up 40 a game he is passing more and getting his teammates more involved. I mean the Mav's might win the championship, but I still think that come playoff time, it doesnt matter if you win 65 games, cause there's still the Suns and the Spurs and the Lakers, and despite what everybody says, it's not completely out of the question to say that an Eastern Conference team might win. If you are really looking for a reason why Dirk isnt getting every single MVP vote this season, it's because of last years NBA Finals. He was quoted as saying "We let them win". That just shows a sore loser.

I think the dallas mavericks are getting the respect for the games that they are winning because that have a great team with great players and supporting cast that can help dirk get back to the finals again and win the championship and I also believe this is the year that dirk can win the mvp base on his scoring and all around game and his teammates that is helping him win games on a daily basis and they are also a great defenseive team that can beat any team in many different ways such as a grind out game by a few points or the transtion game were they can run another team out of the gym with their tight defense or from behind the with the threes the at this point is one of the best teams in the NBA with the league's best record they can beat any other team in the west and the east to answer your question and they have a great coach in Avery Johnson who preach defense because he won a championship with the spurs back in1999 and now he took the page from the spurs playbook and transform the mavs from a highpowered offensive team to a defensive minded team that can shut other teams down and still can score at will

The mavs really are the best team in the league, they almost unbeatable. Steve Nash however is the best player in the league hands down. With him the Suns are unstoppable, without they lose four straight. What makes him better than Dirk? Dirk is a great scorer, and that's about it. Steve Nash might be the greatest player in the league or even ever at completely controlling the game and getting the ball where it needs to be. He dropped 21 dimes the other night and on top of that, if he has an open shot its in. I'm sorry but if the Mavs lost Dirk they would still be a great team, if Steve Nash was on any team they would be a great team. MVP - Steve Nash, NBA champions - we'll have to wait and see.

The Mavericks got a tremendous amount of respect when they went to the finals last year, especially after winning the first 2 games. But then, Miami beat them and this year they are not doing well (due to injuries). Second of all, many people think that there is nothing special about the Mavs. The Lakers have Kobe, the Spurs anre the veteranss, and the Suns are the most fun team to watch (due to their high-octane offense). The Mavs play a solid game, and that is why they win.
Also, you have to consider the good luck they have been having this year. None of their starters have been injured, and Nowitzki hasn't missed a game. Unfortunately, many, many teams have it much worse (such as Miami). Even Phoenix, which actualy had a better record at the time, lost Steve Nash for about 5 games, and they lost 4 (which also shows why he's a two-time m.v.p.).
I have respect for Dallas, but I think Phoenix can win also.

Golden state is a nightmare matchup for the mavs. Baron davis can't be guarded via any of the PG's, Stephen jackson is too large to be guarded with the help of their SG's. And Al Harrington is too cellular for dallas to guard him. the desirable crew to conquer the squaddies are a crew with a fantastic low submit decrease back to the basket participant who harrington can't shield. He has no problem bothering Dirk. If eric dampier is supplied in and performs solid possibly the mavs can win some, otherwise its gonna be extremely the sequence. also i doubt GS will score one hundred thirty factors, the Dallas protection is too solid to allow that. the squaddies are playing like the 2004/2005 Suns, which become also a large matchup problem for dallas.

i have a doubt on my mind about dirks mvp. he scores 20 points game and gets 10 rebs yeah ok but alot of players can do that. he can be versatile (hopefully your feeble mind knows what that means) and score outside and inside. but so can nash and kobe. he doesn't rack up the assists like nash(who by the way is averaging a career high 11 assists) and kobe(who surprisingly is racking the assists more than last year)

What would the Lakers be without Kobe? What would the Mavs be without Dirk? Nothing...They rely on one player too much. It gets irritating. Pheonix isn't that much like that. They have several good players. Pheonix or Heat have a chance to me.

Actually, I think they do get respect from who it counts, players and coaches in the league. Most people are mad at the fact that they blow it last year to the Heat, especially Lakers fans, out side of Mav fans of cores!!
