That's the point of the primary process. Candidates can test the water for future political ambitions they may have, & gain a bit of exposure. They can get some media attention for whatever their own causes & agenda might be, & the party gets to see who sells best w the country.

Then the bartering & dealmaking begins as candidates drop out & endorse whoever gave them the best offer for future power & prestige. The party will try to find the strongest candidate for President & then select a VP based upon strength in large populous states the Presidential candidate may be weak in, & to give the VP candidate some grooming for future races.

Along with Hillary you can have Rosie O'Donnell as Vice President and Jane Fonda as Secretary of Defense. This would be the ideal Hillary package
