Sorry - but no one shoe brand is going to work for everyone. Do not order running shoes online until you KNOW what shoe you want. Every brand and style fits differently and has different support.
Go to a store that has lots of shoe selection. Try several different shoes on and run around the inside of the store with them on. If you are buying running shoes, the sales person should not have any problem with this. The only way to see if it will work for you is to try them out.
If you have a Big 5 Sporting Goods by your house, check them out first. They always have good sales and plenty of decent running shoes under $60.
Another option is to go to a running shoe store. They will probably be more expensive, but the staff should be well trained to help you find the right shoe for your foot and your training needs. Write down the names and styles of the shoes that you really like and tell the sales person that you are going to think about it. Then go online and see if you can find the shoes on sale somewhere else.

I used to run 10 miles a day. Every day. Running shoes, even the expensive ones would wear out very quickly. I opted for the cheap ones as I was going through them so quickly. Reebok, Converse, both are decent yet inexpensive shoes for their base model. Make sure it is designed for running. So many different designs out there. Stay away from the ones with air cushions and gel soles, so overrated. You don't need all of that stuff. Go watch the movie Chariots of Fire.

Well, I'm no expert, but get either:
.Nike- best place is at the Factory Store, I believe they do sell Running shoes for under $70 (who knows, they sold LeBrons at $110)
.New Balance- I heard that there was a test and New Balance was just as good as Nike, or Nike was slightly better, but you had to pay $10-40 more dollars for that difference. Don't know where to get NBs, though.
.adidas- ah, the old rivalry. Factory store.
.Reebok- ?
.aasics- not sure, I use them for wrestling.
.Pumas- Try 'em!
That's all I have.

I always liked Asics running shoes, but you can check out some different options/prices at the Holabird Sports site below. I used to get all my tennis gear and running shoes from these folks. They're located in Maryland if I recall correctly.
Good luck.

Just buy a pair of asics, they have a new shoe every year, based on how much you run you can either get the 1100 or the 2100. If your going to run five or more miles a day go for the 2100s.

Adidas> If there is a costco in your town, they have reasonably priced good Adidas running shoes. I personally have enjoyed running many dozens of miles in my Adidas.
