I was think about this. On the descovery Ch they have the cars of the future. But we have to wait! Why? I need one of those cars today. I would save so much money right now. My car is broken and it is going to cost me $1600 to get it fixed. I just cant do it cause the job i have ( dont have any more cause my cars broke) cost $2.99 per gal and thats not for premium. By the time they get around to letting me get one of these cars i will be way to old to learn the new tech.

1) They're too expensive. These are prototypes that were put together over several years. They are nowhere near being ready for mass production

2) They're not ready for consumers. Many of these "cars of the future" are untested, unsafe, unreliable, and have major, critical flaws in both their design and implementation, that still need to be worked out.

3) Even if these cars were ready, and were affordable to consumers, it's still not so easy to get them to the market. Factories have to be built to produce the cars. Thousands of people have to be hired to build and run the factories. Engineers need to have intimate knowledge of the cars. They need to be manufactured. They need to be shipped. Salespeople have to know them in order to sell them. Fuel industries need to provide for alternative fuels. Service stations need to provide facilities to purchase and equip this fuel. Mechanics need to be retrained.

Get the picture?

If they were available now, they wouldn't be the future cars of 2058. They'd be the cars of 2007. They were just estimating how long it would take to get these cars (or cars with this sort of technology) past testing and into mass production - not to mention making sure fuel was available. Imagine having a hydrogen fuel cell-powered car right now. Know somewhere you can fill it up?.

First off, by 2058 they will have completely different ideas as to what cars should be made.
Second, do you really think these hydrogen cell cars will be affordable?

we have to wait because of imited availability to use future matierals as they're expensive for now.. and because the general population is too stubborn and illogical to want to move forward and like to remain in the dark ages of the automobile.

they do, biodiesel. If you make it yourself it's only 70 cents per gallon, and it takes little if all modification of a diesel engine.
