Hello,
I am an immigrant from Russia and have legal (h-1b) status in US (temporary worker) and my girfriend is from Thailand and have legal status holding VisaL2 and she doesn't have any income source. and right not she is pregnant and was wondering is there any organisation that can support aliens with delivering a baby which costs a lot of money (about $4000) and after-birth baby care (food, and nutrition), so basicly we are not US residents or citizens and expecting a baby and looking for some support from US government programms.
We'll appreciate any help or advice provided.
Thanks.,

I know that WIC has what is called a residential requirement, but I think that means you have to have proof of where you live.
You guys are legal immigrants who are doing everything the way it's supposed to be done to be in this country. So, thanks for that, by the way. I know that some people lump legal immigrants with illegal aliens which is a bum rap for you.
Each state has a health and human services department. Try a basic internet search for your state and then their website will have links for your particular area. Contacting the health and human services is pretty much the only way to find out if your eligible for medicaid and WIC. I think you will be, but I can't tell you for certain.
Best of luck to you both.

Its hard to get maternity care when you ARE a citizen of this country. The answer is going to probably be no, because you need a social security number for nearly everything - even things like help from Medicaid and other low-income programs. You could try getting insurance from your employer, but even that is a dim possibility. Good luck!

Well, Im not sure, But I live on the Mexican border and have all my life, and I do believe that the Mexicans that live here that are not legal come here and go to the Human Services Department and apply for Medicaid when they are pregnant. It happens all the time. Just go there and ask them about it and you can probably get help from them. Im sure if the ones that are not legal can get help, then you can too.

I do not think that programs like wic requires citizenship, but at far as medical care, you need to talk to the local Human Services office. They can point you in the right direction. But please, as soon as she delivers the baby she needs to get a job, I don't appreciate having to pay for other people's children when I have to scrape the money together to pay for my own.

Um no offense, but our government cannot even handle taking care of its own people. I supose you could try looking up the local health department and the local Department of Human Services (call 411 and ask for public aid). I'm pretty sure you would be able to get at least health care for your girlfriend.
