A child usually learns to speak fluently any languages in which s/he is regularly spoken with between the ages of 2 1/2 and 4. If languages are taught experientially at that age they naturally sort out the grammar and syntax as well as which words belong in which language.

A child usually comes to realize at the age of 5 or 6 that death is an irreversible separation. By that time they also can express emotions in words.

At around the age of 8 a child usually starts to show their natural tendency to discern and discriminate -- the ability to distinguish right from wrong, and to fine-tune life situations with reasoning such as "it's OK to lie to teacher if to tell the truth would be sneaking on a friend".
